As our great game of Australian Football developed it required strong individuals to nurture the game and administer the popular sport.

Tatura provided one such person in James Trevaskis.

Jim conducted a Tatura accountancy business and joined the Tatura Football Committee as secretary in 1946.

He became a league delegate in 1949 and was appointed league treasurer in 1950.

He was Secretary of the Bulldogs when they won the premiership in 1953.

Jim was a top administrator who watched the finances of his club very carefully and ensured that Tatura was successful.

He was awarded Life Membership of the Tatura Club.

In 1957 the GVL delegates appointed Jim as the GVL Secretary, a position he held for seventeen years until he resigned in 1973.

Jim was a very efficient secretary who used his experience as a club secretary to ensure that the League was well administered.

He opened his offices for the use of the league for tribunals and league meetings.

He always had his finger on the pulse and was well recognised throughout the state as a leading administrator.

Clubs found that they couldn’t put anything past him and he ensured that the finances of the league were kept in good shape.

Jim was a fearless debater and his opinion was greatly respected.

He was always available to give advice to club administrators and players alike.

The GVFL bestowed Life membership on Jim in 1969 and he also received a “Recognition of Service” award from the Victorian Country Football League.

Following his passing In 1977 The then League President Jack Arthur paid tribute to Jim when he said: Jim Trevaskis made a tremendous contribution to country football and the GVFL in particular.

He was the most efficient secretary that any league could have had”.

Without men like Jim Trevaskis, the GVL would not have enjoyed the success it has had.

The League recognises his work by inducting Jim Trevaskis into the Hall of Fame.
