GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League Fixture Released for Season 2021.
After the challenges the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League (GVL) and its member clubs faced during the year with the season being called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the GVL is pleased to release its fixture for Season 2021.
GVL Board Chairman David Roff said, “After a year unlike any other, we are eagerly looking forward to the return of Football and Netball in 2021. Round 1 kicks off over the Easter weekend with a Good Friday clash seeing Shepparton take on archrivals Shepparton United at Deakin Reserve. Remaining games will be played over the Easter weekend.”
Mr Roff continued by saying, “Round 4 will see ANZAC Day matches played and an Indigenous Round has been scheduled to coincide with NAIDOC Week during Round 13.”
There will be several night games played early in the season with the Shepparton Swans set to play host to Shepparton United in Round 3 with that game set to be played under the new lights at Princess Park. A bye in Round 3 for Seymour and Mansfield has been scheduled into the fixture to accommodate the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo event that was postponed due to COVID-19. That match will be played in Round 16 which is a split round.
GVL Operations Manager Josephine Spencer said, “This year has shown just how vital Community Football and Netball is. It’s more than just a game. It’s about the connection people have to their clubs and its members, as well as to the league. We know how much everyone has missed this connection and we are looking forward to the return of football and netball in 2021.”
Ms Spencer continued by saying, “As always, the priority of the GVL continues to be the health and wellbeing of all of our supporters, players, umpires, officials, partners, sponsors, volunteers and committees as well as everyone across all of our clubs and local communities. The GVL continues to work within the parameters of current State Government restrictions and the Return to Training and Play Guidelines set out by Netball Victoria and AFL Victoria to ensure the safety of everyone.”
