Ashlea Hare (Mangan) plays her 300th Senior GVL Game.
We congratulate Ashlea on playing her 300th game last weekend. Echuca had this to say about her:
Ashlea Hare, better known as ‘Mango’ or more recently as ‘HOF’, has been an outstanding player, dominating in the GVL since the age of 13. This week we celebrate 300 senior GVL games. What an incredible achievement.
Mango began her stellar career at Kyabram playing 42 junior games and then straight into A grade to continue playing 245 brilliant games for the Kyabram Football Netball Club. In that time she won A grade premierships in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017. Impressively, throughout that time Mango has also been named the Wellman Family League Medallist on three occasions in 2008, 2010 & 2012.
Mango then joined Echuca Bombers in 2021 bringing with her knowledge and experience which has been invaluable to our players. Success didn’t take too long at the Bombers with Mango in the line up, bringing home her 1st A grade premiership in the Green and White and 7th A grade premiership to date. Most recently, in 2024, Mango was bestowed the high honor of being inducted into the GVL Hall of Fame.
Mango is incredibly smart, speedy and has an exceptional work rate allowing her to dominate in defence. Along with her exceptional leadership qualities, these skills have seen her represent the Goulburn Valley League for almost every year of her playing career, and on many of these occasions she has been the captain, representing our league proudly.
Spending time on the sidelines after a devastating knee injury in 2014, and also for the birth of her 3 beautiful boys – Ash was greatly missed on court by her teammates. Ash returned stronger, fitter and more determined than ever. When you watch Ash play, you just know she makes the most of every single minute she spends on the court, never taking the game she loves for granted.
We value Ash as a player, teammate, mentor, leader, and more importantly as a friend. She provides us with plenty of laughs on and off the court, and is always a pleasure to be around.
She is exceptional. We congratulate Ash on an amazing career so far and look forward to seeing you dominant for many more games to come.
