GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League Holds Its AGM.
The Annual General Meeting of the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League was held on Thursday 13 December 2024.
Board Chair Jacqui Hudgson announced a loss of $87,005 for the 2023/2024 season. The result can be attributed to several factors. $36,101 is attributed to Season 2023 finals expenses not received until this financial year.
As hosts, the Interleague expenses were significantly more than the year prior which also contributed to the loss whilst the projected sponsorship in relation to the League’s new App was not realised due to significant delays with the App launch now postponed until 2025. The League was able to move the budgeted expense of the App build into the incoming financial year.
The GVL Board sees some changes with the resignation earlier this year of Nicole Miller. This leaves a casual vacancy which will be filled early in the new year. Peter Cardamone and John Byrnes both decided not to re-elect for their positions with both concluding their two-year terms at the AGM. Jacqui Hudgson & Peter Foott both chose to re-nominate for another two-year term. In addition to these, another four nominations were received.
There was a total of six nominations received for the four vacant Board positions. After a vote by Club Delegates, Peter Foott was re-elected to the Board along with new Board members Jason Sherlock, Ashok Kumar and Sharon O’Dwyer.
At a meeting held after the Delegates meeting, the Board elected Peter Foott as Board Chair and Jason Sherlock as Deputy Chair.
Incoming Board Chair Peter Foott took the opportunity to thank the outgoing board members. “I’d like to thank Nicole, Peter, John and Jacqui. Individually they have each bought a different set of skills and expertise to the table. Jacqui’s long contribution to the League as a player, coach, Rep Netball player & coach, Board Member, President of the GVNL, Deputy Chair & Chair of the GVL over many years has been invaluable. We are thankful to Jacqui and to Peter, Nicole and John. We wish each of them all the very best.”
Foott also said, “We welcome incoming Board members to the GVL Board. Each brings a wealth of experience, and a fantastic skill set to the Board and I, along with the rest of the Board, look forward to working with them as we continue to grow and strengthen our League.”
The Board of the GVL look forward to working together, alongside our member clubs, to ensure the long-term success and continued growth of the League.
